A Tale of Two Cities: Rebuilding a Metropolis

Really proud of this new essay I wrote on Movie Mezzanine. It regards the original 1927 silent epic, Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, notes its heavy influence on sci-fi over the years, and then brings it all full circle with an analysis on how it pertains to Rintaro’s 2001 animated film of the same name. The Lars von Trier Retrospective

Movie Mezzanine decided to honor the release of Nymphomaniac with a retrospective of the films of Lars von Trier. I was able to write little blurbs for both Breaking the Waves and Melancholia, two of his most depressing films. Click here to read my blurbs, and more from other talented writers.

‘Enemy’ Movie Review

enemy 2-2
Enemy is a really strange and creepily mysterious psychological thriller. Read my full thoughts on the film on Movie Mezzanine.

‘Bethlehem’ Movie Review

bethlehem
New review is up on Movie Mezzanine. This one is of a fairly decent if fairly forgettable Israeli political thriller/character drama. At the very least, it has a hell of an ending. Click here for the full review on Movie Mezzanine.
